REMINDERS

All vehicles must report to the scale house.  

Secure Your Load: Ensure all waste is securely fastened to prevent any material from escaping. Failure to do so will result in a $20 fee.

Fees for Small Loads

  • Garbage: Up to 10 bags at $1.50 each (starting January 1, 2024)

  • Compostable Material:

    • 1 cart (2 brown paper bags): Free

    • More than 1 cart up to 100 kg: $1

    • Greater than 100 kg: $50/tonne

  • Appliances Containing Freon: $20 each

  • Residential Tires: $5 each

  • Commercial Tires: $10 each

  • Washer/Dryer/Stove: $15 each

  • Electronics: Free at local recycling depots

  • Bulky Items: Minimum charge of $15 (e.g., mattresses, furniture)

Fees for Large Loads

  • Municipal/Commercial Solid Waste: $139/tonne (Jan 2025)

  • Unsorted Waste (garbage containing yard waste): $278/tonne

  • Construction & Demolition Waste: $35/tonne

  • International Waste: $200 excavation fee + $250/tonne

  • Asbestos Waste: $125/cubic meter (minimum charge of $600)

Unacceptable Waste in Garbage

Please do not bring the following items to the landfill:

  • Automotive batteries

  • Herbicides and pesticides

  • Liquid paints and solvents

  • Sludge and oily wastes

  • Untreated biomedical waste

  • Large dead animals

  • Explosive or radioactive materials

  • Lithium batteries (fire hazard)

DIRECTIONS TO CRANE MOUNTAIN LANDFILL

From Saint John: Take Highway 7 North toward Grand Bay-Westfield. Exit at the first exit after Exit 90 and follow the signs.

From Fredericton: Take Highway 7 South, exit 90 for Grand Bay-Westfield, and take the next left at the landfill sign.
