Notice: Fundy Regional Service Commission is currently looking for (3) Casual Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Workers – Sorters to join the team at Crane Mountain Landfill.

Responsibilities:

·        Sorting of incoming recyclables and removal of non-compliance material

·       Directing and controlling traffic within the MRF

·       Comply to all Fundy Region Solid Waste health and safety, environmental, and employment policies Keeping records of daily activities as required

·       Reporting any safety issues

·        Reporting any needed repairs or maintenance issues to Lead Hand (Supervisor if Lead Hand unavailable} Operating Commission owned light vehicles

·        Participation in any required training programs

·       Working as a team player

·        Performing other duties that may be assigned, including any other work at the Crane Mountain Landfill for which the employee is qualified

·        Ensure that work area is organized, neat and clean

·       Interacting with the Public in a polite and courteous manner

·        Working with MRF Operators as directed

Qualifications:

·        Grade 12 or equivalent

·        Hold a class 5 motor vehicle operator's license

·        Must provide a clean driver's abstract if requested

·        Availability to work night shifts and/or rotating shifts, potentially involving all seven days of the week according to service needs

·        Ability to work effectively within a team environment

·        Ability to work with minimum supervision

·        Required to wear any personal protective equipment necessary to perform the job

·        Must be able to work in a difficult environment

Physical Abilities:

·        Continuous use of both hands and feet with dexterity

·        Good hand-eye coordination

·        Continuous use of both near and far vision

·        Frequent standing and walking, including over uneven or soft surfaces

·        Able to lift up to 40 lbs

·        Must be able to sustain continuous strenuous physical activity including bending, stooping and lifting

NOTE: Payrate for this position $18.78/HR with 8% holiday/vacation pay with a compressed work week Monday to Thursday - 10HR/day
